The fuel oil and electricity required to power campus buildings make up more than 95% of the College’s consumption of energy. Furthermore, many colleges and universities fuel costs represent over 40% of their facilities budget. Given the high fuel costs, some comprises include:
- Maximization of Space Utilization
- Minimization or postponement of New Construction
- Reallocation of other college / university financial resources to subsidize higher than anticipated fuel expenses
